6 Paintings in 6 days.

November 27, 2010

I know, quite daunting.  But this is my assignment for my painting class.  I have already done one of a creepy 1960’s doll that was my teachers, but I haven’t the foggiest idea what to do for the other 5.  Any ideas? Anyone?  Anyone?

What I have been up to.

I am a bad blogger, and I am sorry to the 4 people who may or maynot follow my blog.  But here are some pictures of some ceramics and paintings that I have been doing in school…

Happy Birthday Mrs. Kahn!

We surely miss you.

Shaped Note Singing

September 26, 2010

Mama and I went to WCU yesterday for Mountain Heritage Day Festival.  She had signed up to sing with the Shaped Note singers and apparently so had I.  I had never done it before and I can read music, but it’s not like reading music.  There are only 4 tones that are sung–FA,SO,LA,and MI.   Tenors, Alto, Soprano and Bass sit in 4 sections all facing the middle and sing at the top of their lungs.  We sang for 5 hours.  It was awesome!

I am not super tech-savvy so I don’t know how to convert the video I have to one that I can upload on WordPress.  But, here is a link so all of you non-Mountain peeps can understand what I am talking about.

Carolina Chocolate Drops…whoa.

September 24, 2010

I went to see the Carolina Chocolate Drops on Tuesday.  My awesome school invited them to play and only charges students $5 to see them.  I was blown away.  They can play every instrument under the sun!  If you haven’t heard of them, check out their website here.

Here is my favorite song they preform:

Embroidering Raoul 2…electric boogaloo.

September 19, 2010

Here is an updated picture of the embroidery of Eating Raoul for my friend Eric’s blog.  Any critiques?

It's getting there...

I’m kind of a big deal…

September 16, 2010

I love love love painting with oils! I just finished my very first oil painting and found that I really like the medium and am not too shabby at painting!  I will take a picture soon and post.

Our next project is to pick a master painter and either do a full on copy of the painting of choice or use the painter’s color palette to create our own painting.  I thought I’d go big and choose Frank Frazetta.  Hopefully I will be able to do him some justice.  I will keep you posted on how my painting turns out.  Here is the painting I am basing mine off of.

Oh dear, what have I gotten myself into?
